Fallout New Vegas Pre order guide. And a bit of info about my trip to Wales.

Chris asked for a bit of guidance on choosing a pre-order bonus for New Vegas and I went a bit over the top, since I haven’t posted for a while I though it would make a good post.

Okay, there’s 4 that are confirmed to have a UK release.

What you get at Game, there’s pistol has a higher damage than in game pistols, a different skin and more HP (Meaning it needs less repairs).

There’s an armourer Vault 13 jump suit which I imagine will be almost exactly the same as the one you get from Moria in F3.

A water can which will be very helpful if you’re playing on the hardest difficuly where you have to drink water in order to survive, if you’re not then it will still be helpful to give you a free health boost whenever it’s needed.

You will be able to get a water can as part of different outfits but if you want to have it with any outfit you’ll need the unique one.

And 3 Stimpaks which I don’t need to explain.

If you preorder from Steam/Play.com

With this one you get a
a shotgun with a lot more HP than normal and a different, held together with ductape skin. How useful that’ll actually be in the game I don’t know, I imagine early on you won’t have enough ammo to use it and by the time you do you’ll have much better guns.

It also includes a pair of binoculars which though look helpful are available to buy in the game so that’s nothing that important.

And some lightweight leather armour which I imagine will the the same as normal leather armour except slightly lighter.

And 4 repair kits, which I think will be more useful than the Stimpaks but I’m not sure.

The grenade launcher is obviously a bit draw but I doubt it’ll be worth early in the game because of a complete lack of ammo and you can get a slightly less powerful one later on if you really want it.

Metal armour doesn’t seem worth, just the same as but slightly lighter.

Super Stim packs won’t be worth it untill later on by which point you’ll probably be up to your eyeballs in stim packs.

Doctors bags only useful on hardest difficulty and even then damaged limbs shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

And finally if you pre-order from Amazon,

The broad machette looks interesting but you’ll be able to find similar ones later in the game, also bear in mind you’re trading the pistol you would normally start the game with for a knife so you won’t have mush ranged fire power.

Throwing spears I imagine will be amazingly helpful later on but having the choice between them and a gun early on I’d go gun any day, they’re available later in game though and look like an awful lot of fun to play with. Pining everyone in the NCR to walls sounds like a good way to pass the time.

Tribal armour is the same as the raiders blast masters armour from F3 and looks dull and pointless, I’m really not interested in that, but you maybe.

Last but by no means least is the poison, which use seems fairly marginal, it makes melee do more damage and probably over time too, but I doubt either of you will be using melee much, also I think it’s only for one weapon so that’s not too great.

Personally I want the Classic packs for the water can and pistol. As I think they’ll be the most useful and easiest to use early in game and all the other, as fun as they may look *ahem* throwing spears *ahem* won’t be useful early in game. But it’s up to you and I hope this helped :)

Also, I kept a diary from when I went to Wales with the idea of typing it up here but I’ve not got round to typing it up yet, if anyone actually wants to hear about my time in Wales, which isn’t as uninteresting as it may sound, then let me know and I’ll probably type up all 11 pages of it.
